This homepage is kept for historical purposes on Tripod. It is one of the very first homepages I created back in 1999 and still survives. I now hold a Ph.D. in Structural Engineering from the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT). Follow me on Facebook and Twitter. Connect to me professionally on Linked-in. Visit my blog here; unfortunately I have blogged less recently and posted a lot more on Facebook. My CV is available for download here. My academic writings are available here as well as on Google Scholar. Google for "thitiv" to see my activities on the Web! — Dr. Thiti Vacharasintopchai, February 25, 2012

My nick name is Geng, which is a Thai word used to
describe people who are smart. There are five people in my family--Mom, Dad, my
two younger brothers, and myself. Being born in Bangkok, during my childhood I
was educated in Thailand's outstanding private school, Assumption College. After finishing Matthayom 6
(grade 12) from the school in 1994, I continued my study in Faculty of
Engineering, Chulalongkorn University,
majoring in Civil Engineering. This was the institute where I gained several
fields of knowledge, not only engineering but also photography, printing technology,
and publishing. I just got my Bachelor of Engineering from the university last
year.
Due to the Asian Economic Crisis, many construction firms
closed themselves. Looking for a job was almost impossible. Engineers were
being laid off. So, I decided to strengthen my professional knowledge by
studying for the Master of Structural
Engineering at Asian Institute of
Technology (AIT), Bangkok, Thailand. Now I am in my second term of the
five-term curriculum.
When I was a child, I lived in Banmoh, the well-known
electronic shopping area of Bangkok, where I saw people reading, designing, and
fixing electronic devices everyday. Being exposed to such environment, I became
interested in this field. Back in 1987 "Blinking LED" was the first
circuit I assembled. Later in 1988 my father bought me the first PC, an Intel
8088-based with 640KB RAM. Since then computer and electronics had been my
favorite subjects. I had dreamed of being an electrical engineer.
As time passed by, unfortunately, I chose to study civil
engineering rather than electrical engineering, leaving my childish dream
behind. Now I become a structural engineer with applicative computer and
electronic knowledges.
My favorite sport is swimming. AIT pool is where people
can find me after classes. For hobbies, I love traveling and photographing. I
was also an active member of Chulalongkorn University Photo Club when I was an
undergraduate student. The club was responsible for taking photographs of major
student activity events, for example, Chula-Thammasat Traditional Football
Match. It also held several photographic trips every year. Currently I own a Nikon F90X SLR camera with certain
amount of lenses and accessories. You can visit Foto Album to see some of my
photographs taken from the trips.
